Carlos Fernandes

Carlos Fernandes graduated (2010) and received his master’s degree (2011) in Chemistry from Faculty of Sciences of University of Porto (Portugal). In 2018, he obtained his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, in the speciality of Nanotechnology, from Faculty of Pharmacy of University of Porto. The focus of his research is based on the design, synthesis and in vitro evaluation of nanocarriers for controlled drug delivery in target-sites related with neurological pathologies.

He is currently Doctoral Researcher specialized in Organic Chemistry of MitoTAG, a spin-off from the University of Porto and the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology at the University of Coimbra, which develops optimization systems for targeting antioxidants to the mitochondria for use in Cosmetics, Human and Veterinary Health.
