José Teixeira

José Teixeira obtained a Degree in Biochemistry from the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (2009) and a Master’s Degree in Biochemistry from the University of Porto (UP) in 2011. In 2016, also at the University of Porto, José Teixeira completed his PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences. During the master’s and doctoral study cycles, he undertook several national and international scientific internships (Cambridge, United Kingdom; Coimbra, Portugal; and Nijmegen, Netherlands) in order to obtain advanced training in the fields of Medicinal Chemistry and Mitochondrial Biology.

José Teixeira played the role of Postdoctoral Researcher in the Medicinal Chemistry Group of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto and in the Mitochondrial Toxicology and Experimental Therapeutics Group at the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology at the University of Coimbra. He is currently Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) of MitoTAG, a spin-off from the University of Porto and the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology at the University of Coimbra, which develops optimization systems for targeting antioxidants to the mitochondria for use in Cosmetics, Human and Veterinary Health.
