Miguel Pinto obtained his First Degree in Biology at the University of Aveiro (2014) and got his Master’s Degree in Biochemistry at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (FCUP) in 2017. During his Master Thesis, he performed his work in the Medicinal Chemistry Group of FCUP, under the supervision of Prof. Fernanda Borges, entitled “Development of effective PEGylated PCL-based nanoformulations for the delivery of potent MAO-B chromone–based inhibitors”. After the MSc completion, Miguel became a research fellow in the same group and his work focused on the development of targeted nanotherapeutics for the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders (2018-2019).
Later in 2019, he was awarded a PhD Research Scholarship from Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia and he’s currently a PhD student of Pharmaceutical Sciences (Nanotechnologies Specialty) under the supervision Prof. Fernanda Borges. Miguel’s research interests englobe Nanomaterials/Nanomedicines, Targeted Drug Delivery and Medicinal Chemistry.
